Welcome

image If you are an American LaFrance (ALF) collector, or are just interested in the history of fire equipment, you are in the right place. Here you will find the background of ALF and different locations where other collectors have memorabilia and fire equipment originally built by the American LaFrance. Many of them have Web sites and some don't, in those cases we hope to give them a Web presence so interested individuals can learn about them and if appropriate visit.

This site is currently under construction and I suspect it will be months before it is near finished as there are so many connections to ALF. If you would like to be notified when updates are made please send me your email. liz@alfconnect.com

Collectors

image If you are a collector of American LaFrance Memorabilia and/or equipment I would love to hear from you.

My dad, John "Bruce" Tibbetts, from Tewksbury, MA was an ALF Field Engineer for more then 20 years. I do not have the exact dates but it covered the years I lived at home. If my memory is correct he started with them about the time I was born, 1949 and worked for them until he retired. If you know ALF you are aware that the field engineers delivered new, and serviced ALF equipment so needless to say my childhood is full of ALF memories. He worked in the Northeast Region, out of our home, taking direction from the headquarters in Elmira, NY. If you knew him please say hello.

Visitors

If you are in search of American LaFrance history or fire equipment history in general, we hope you will find many interesting Web sites and geographic locations here for you to visit. There is a strong focus here on ALF, however, as I come across non-ALF sites I will have a section to list their information as well. Enjoy!
